We made sunday "our Valentine's", because I work on Tuesday evening and wouldn't be able to be with Dave.
After mustering up a homemade bed-in-breakfast, we began our special day with some photography time at the Huntington Gardens. Dave surprised me with our own personal memberships (hooray...I love Huntington Gardens). We stayed for about an hour, while Dave captured some flowers in bloom on camera.Next, we drove over to the LA Zoo for a fundraiser exclusive to members called "Woo at the Zoo." Yes, this event coincides with Valentine's Day and it was very interesting, despite the eyebrows raised when describing it to friends and co-workers. We were also pleasantly surprised when we encountered a couple that we know well, who showed up for the same event. We humored by the presentation on animal reprocutivity, and got a glimpse of some baby animals (I was cooing the entire time). The tour ended with a mashed potato bar (yes, red mashed potatoes in a martini glass turn out to be quite delectable), wine, cheese, and some pastries...we completely indulged!
We left before we utterly spoiled our appetites for our dinner reservation at a favorite local restaurant called LA Prime. We started with a cocktail in the the BonaVista Lounge, a revolving bar just beneath the restaurant. The food, view, and service were outstanding! We wound up with the same server we had previously, Vicki, who made our experience that much better.
The day with my sweetie couldn't have been any more perfect. It was the most fun I had in a long time.
